$6,500 in gas cards and more to be given away at three donation drop-off locations
Honolulu, Hawaii – Goodwill Hawaii is kicking off the season of giving with Goods Giving Saturday on November 23 from 8:30 am to 12 noon and will be giving away $6,500 in Aloha Gas cards, Car Wash 808 Express tickets, and Popeyes® Hawaii promo cards at three of their donation locations (Kapolei, Kaimuki, and Windward City Shopping Center) while supplies last to thank donors for supporting the local nonprofit organization. Community members will also be treated to other special touches including cookies provided by Diamond Bakery Hawaii and entertainment by local celebrities.
“We wanted to do something to give back to the community who has supported us for more than 65 years and are grateful to our partners who donated the prizes that we’ll be gifting to our donors,” said Goodwill Hawaii president and CEO Katy Chen.
Goodwill’s goal is to collect 150,000 boxes/bags of donations during their End of the Year campaign period which starts on Goods Giving Saturday, Nov. 23 and ends on Jan. 5, 2025. Anyone who visits Goodwill’s donation locations on Oahu and Hawaii Island during that timeframe will receive a 10% off coupon from Popeyes Hawaii, which can be used at any Popeyes Hawaii location through Jan. 31, 2025. The coupon is only valid for in-store and drive thru purchases on regular priced items.
The organization relies on donations of pre-loved clothing and household goods to fuel its 13 retail stores statewide. The revenue generated in stores gets reinvested back into the local community and funds free job training, education and placement services for thousands of Hawaii residents in need each year. Last year, Goodwill Hawaii helped more than 500 residents statewide find jobs in the community and earn a combined $14.5 million in annual wages.
