Honolulu, HI (October 29, 2014) —Goodwill Industries of Hawaii, Inc. hired Katy Chen to be the nonprofit’s first Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), effective November 1, 2014. The new position will bring together several administrative functions under one division, overseeing the Human Resources, Marketing, and Risk Management departments. This will allow the nonprofit to better streamline core administrative functions and operate more efficiently.
“Katy is an outstanding individual with a wealth of experience and we are very lucky to have her join Goodwill,” stated Laura Smith, President/CEO of Goodwill.
Ms. Chen has over 15 years as a senior leader of nonprofit organizations, most recently as the Executive Director of PATCH which focuses on supporting and improving the quality and availability of care for Hawaii’s youth. Prior to PATCH, she was the Executive Director for Hawaii Literacy. Ms. Chen is also a licensed attorney and received her law degree from the University of Washington. She worked at the law firm Dwyer Imanaka Schraff Kudo Meyer & Fujimoto, with a primary focus on intellectual property, nonprofit, and real estate law, before starting her career in the nonprofit sector.
